Security – we all like to have peace of mind…

With the onset of the dark winter evenings we will all, once again, see the incidence of burglary and crime increase. Figures taken from the Garda crime statistics show that in winter, burglaries increase by 25% and that over 40% of burglaries in winter occur between 5pm and 11pm, when few of us may not yet be home from work.

In designing our homes, and businesses, we want to have a property that we can secure, alarm and walk away from with the peace of mind that we have a security system that is rock solid.

The most common request from our customers is to integrate their security system into their home automation system. That makes sense. When a security system is integrated with home automation, additional security features can also be automated and controlled, such as door locks, smart lighting, IP cameras, motion sensors, contact sensors and other controllable devices to really give you peace of mind.

When you are at work or away you can use an app on your Smart phone to check your security cameras, make sure that your security system is armed (and if not, arm it), adjust your blinds or curtains and even just turn off a light or TV that you left on in your hurried rush out the door.

Another feature of integrated security systems is that you can easily check on things remotely and control your home from virtually anywhere at any time.

My family and I were recently on holidays and a neighbour kindly rang us to say that our house alarm had triggered. We had of course already received that notification from the security system, but we were able to disarm the alarm and unlock the house for a family member to check that all was ok. Once that was complete we could remotely arm and secure the house once again and get on with the important business of enjoying ourselves, with peace of mind. No need to leave spare keys or alarm codes with family, our integrated home automation security system does it all.

Home automation is certainly fun to have – the music, home cinema, the mood lighting, remote heating control to mention but a few, and the benefits and convenience it brings to family life are so many. But as soon as you integrate your home automation system with your security system, it will provide not only moments of convenience and fun, but can truly add a level of safety and security that would make it hard to ever live without again.
